Jamaica Hosts Regional Civil Aviation Meeting

A contingent of directors general, state and other high-level representatives from the Central Caribbean, the United States and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), met at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, St Andrew, for the 14th Directors of Civil Aviation Meeting for the Central Caribbean from May 11-13.

The meeting took place as the global aviation community intensifies efforts to improve aviation safety and security, while implementing measures that will enhance environmental sustainability and the efficiency and capacity of regional air navigation.

Vybzing Youth Forum participants showcase talents

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 14, 2015 Creative youth from St. Kitts and Nevis are unleashing their creative thinking skills at the ‘Vybzing’ forum through hands-on experiences.

Participants were placed in groups of five and engaged in a practical session where they had to build blocks of creative entrepreneurship.

Key Facilitator, Dr. Jo-anne Tull outlined the scope of the foundations of creative entrepreneurship.

Food safety: More than just a health threat

Nevis Dept. of Agriculture to observe Agriculture Awareness Month in May

NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (APRIL 30, 2015) -- The third annual Agriculture Awareness Month hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, will begin on May 1st with a range of agriculture-related activities promoting food security.

 

The month comes on the heels of what agriculture officials on Nevis describe as a successful 21st Annual Agriculture Open Day which was held in March.

 

France to modernise Haiti’s education system

PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti (CMC) – French President Francois Hollande has promised to finance a large scale education programme to modernise the country’s education system.

Hollande who arrived here on Tuesday, is also scheduled to sign several agreements with Haitian President Michel Martelly including one that will allow the exportation of organically grown bananas to Europe.

In a brief speech following Hollande’s arrival, Martelly attempted to end a debate in Haiti about whether relations can be rebuilt with France – its former colonial power without demanding reparations.

Ramnarine: T&T to produce cleaner diesel fuel

ENERGY Minister Kevin Ramnarine said Trinidad and Tobago may soon be producing a cleaner alternative to diesel fuel when the recently-signed Mitsubish project comes on line.

Ramnarine was the feature speaker on Saturday night at the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Dealers Association's annual dinner, which was held at Radisson Hotel, Port of Spain.

CDB Promoting Creative Entrepreneurship among St. Kitts And Nevis Youth

Young men and women from across St. Kitts and Nevis will be exposed to the business opportunities in the creative industries as part of the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) Youth VYBZING Outreach Programme.

The exposure will take place at a workshop entitled ‘Promoting Creative Entrepreneurship,’ which will be held at the Ocean Terrace Inn from May 13 – 15, 2015. More than 30 participants between the ages of 18 – 35 are expected to attend.
