St. Kitts and Nevis Supervisor of Elections Mr. Wingrove George late Tuesday afternoon announced Team Unity as the winners of the general elections held on Monday 16 February 2015.
He confirmed that Team Unity, an alliance of three opposition parties, won seven of the 11 seats contested, with the outgoing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party of Dr. Denzil Douglas winning three and the Nevis Reformation Party, one.

The Government is increasing protection for the creative works of Jamaicans under the amendments to the Copyright Act being undertaken.
Minister of State in Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Sharon Ffolkes Abrahams, said the amendments will extend copyright protection 95 years beyond the author’s death.
The existing legislation in literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works lasts for the lifetime of the author, with an additional 50 years after the death of the author.
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- Teachers from more than 20 schools in western Jamaica will learn how to teach students about their right to work, travel and do business in 13 Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries, in a special two day workshop starting on Monday in Montego Bay.

A team of Belgian researchers reported a new strain of HIV in Cuban patients that can result in AIDS within three years, if no cure is administered. Researchers worry that the mutated HIV strain could evolve so quick that patients will get antiretroviral therapy only after it is already too late.
According to the researchers, the newly found strain become “epidemic” among patients recently diagnosed with HIV on the Caribbean island. Those patients reported that they might have been infected after they had had unsafe sex with multiple partners.
The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) is rolling out a number of public education initiatives to inform athletes and support personnel of various changes regarding anti-doping rules.
Among these are symposiums, workshops, quarterly television features and monthly radio programmes.
With revisions to the World Anti-Doping Code, the Anti-Doping in Sport Act, 2014 and the 2015 Anti-Doping Rules, Executive Director of JADCO, Carey Brown, says the agency will be working throughout the year to educate persons about the rules.
