CSME exchange students meet Barbados’ Prime Minister

A group of university students from Barbados is now in Jamaica gaining first hand experience on the practical operations of  the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

The visit is part of a project “Students Engaging the CSME through Field promotion”, being executed by the CARICOM Secretariat and funded under the European Union’s 10th European Development Fund (EDF).

Region gets US$3 billion to support renewable energy efforts

NASSAU, Bahamas, Tuesday April 12, 2016 – Japan and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) are partnering to invest US$3 billion in Latin America and the Caribbean to support renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, as well as quality infrastructure projects related to energy savings.

Suriname and Guyana participate in Islamic Summit in Turkey

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Monday April 11, 2016 – Suriname and Guyana, the Western Hemisphere’s only two members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), are taking part in this week’s 13th Summit of the OIC from April 10 to 15 in Istanbul.

Suriname’s President Desi Bouterse is being represented at the summit by foreign affairs minister Niermala Badrisingh, while Guyana’s president David Granger and foreign affairs minister Carl Greenidge have travelled to Turkey for the event.

Regional fisheries experts meet today on emerging challenges

Belize City, Wednesday, 6 April 2015 (CRFM)–Fisheries experts from across the Caribbean region are traveling to Guyana this week for the 14th Meeting of the Caribbean Fisheries Forum — the primary technical deliberative body of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM).  The Forum will be meeting in Georgetown on Thursday, 7 April and Friday, 8 April to undertake its annual stocktaking and planning for the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
