Continue search for solutions to challenges – Acting Chair of COTED

CARICOM strengthens efforts to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community is strengthening its efforts to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment through the Sixth Meeting of Directors/Coordinators of Women’s/Gender Bureau being convened 6-7 May in Bridgetown, Barbados. The meeting is being held in partnership with the UN Women Multi-country Office (MCO) for the Caribbean, and the Caribbean Development Bank.

First ever Dutch Ambassador to CARICOM presents credentials

CARICOM Triennial Award for Women selection process begins

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The selection process for the eleventh CARICOM Triennial Award for Women 2014 got underway in Bridgetown, Barbados on Monday.  The Selection Committee comprised representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Haiti, Jamaica and Montserrat. This year there were eight nominees from five Member States.

CARPHA and CTO Launch Tourism and Health Programme in the Region

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, May 06, 2014:  Closures of hotels and cruise ports due to outbreaks of communicable diseases, environmental challenges like climate change, and poor health and wellness in the tourism workforce, can result in significant losses in revenue. These were the major catalysts for the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) partnering to address issues affecting health and tourism in the Caribbean region.

Discussions on Agriculture at Third CARICOM-Mexico Summit build on triangular cooperation

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)    Cooperation between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) will be enhanced with discussions on agriculture at the Third CARICOM Mexico-Summit being held in Merida, Mexico. This sentiment was expressed by Secretary General of the Caribbean Community, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, at the opening of the summit.
