Timothy Harris, has assumed the role as Chair of the 14-year-old Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP). Prime Minister Harris is the Lead Head for Human Resources, Health and HIV in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Quasi Cabinet.

Martinique, West Indies, May 09, 2015 (SKNIS): Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris is meeting with regional heads of state at a climate change Summit being held in Martinique.
The event is being chaired by Mr. Francois Hollande, President of the French Republic. Accompanying the Prime Minister are Minister of Public Infrastructure, post urban development and transport Ian “Patches” Liburd and Attorney General Vincent Byron.
The CARICOM Election Observer Mission to the just-concluded elections in Guyana said that the voting process was transparent, free and fair. The secrecy of the ballot was protected and respected, the CARICOM Observers said in an Interim Statement.
The Statement, signed by Head of Mission, Mr. Earl Simpson, Deputy Director of Elections, Electoral Office, Jamaica, outlined the deployment of the team, visits to polling stations and overall impressions of the conduct of the polls.
We are indeed grateful for the warm welcome we have received and we are pleased to be here in Guyana for the General and Regional Elections slated to be held on 11 May 2015.
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat recently launched two initiatives to support the development of the Region’s agriculture sector relative to the assessment of the market infrastructure needs and improving the information system for Caribbean agribusiness.
These initiatives are elements of a series of activities under the Caribbean component of the Agricultural Policy Programme (APP), which is funded by the European Union (EU) and which benefits both the Caribbean and the Pacific regions.
It is indeed a pleasure for me personally, as well as the CARICOM Secretariat, to be associated with this “one of a kind” event. This “Forum on The Future of the Caribbean” could not be more timely and relevant given the challenging regional and international circumstances.
I am particularly heartened by the range of participants involved during these three days. I look forward to the practical outcomes and policy directions to be derived from this exercise in ‘disruptive thinking’ which I am sure will stimulate ideas and debate.
