Tools for Improving Food Safety Focus of Upcoming CDB Workshop in Guyana

The third ServSafe Food Safety Training and Certification Workshop facilitated by the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) Technical Cooperation Division, through its programme, the Caribbean Technological Consultancy Services Network, is slated to take place from September 15-18, 2015 in Guyana.

SIDS need support of international community

Any decision on the creation of a new regional programmatic framework for sustainable development must have at its core the means of implementation.

This was made clear today by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Senator Jepter Ince, as he addressed the opening ceremony of a national consultation on the United Nations Caribbean Multi-Country Sustainable Development Framework 2017 – 2021.
 

St. Kitts and Nevis envoy to CARICOM accredited

His Excellency Lionel Sydney Osborne, Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on Tuesday presented his letters of credence to Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, CARICOM Secretary-General. The credentials ceremony was held in the Office of the Secretary-General, CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana.

WICB-UWI to “Rally Round Dominica”

Regional Workshop on E-commerce legislation harmonization in the Caribbean being planned

Given the importance of the adoption of compatible cyberlaws across countries for the development of e-commerce, UNCTAD together with the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) are joining efforts to organize a Regional Workshop on E-commerce Legislation Harmonization in the Caribbean from 29 September to 2 October 2015 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

This workshop is also sponsored by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of Finland.

St. Kitts expects initial work on geothermal exploration to start early 2016

CARICOM stands ready to support earthquake-hit Chile

Even as the region focuses attention on storm-hit Dominica, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is extending a hand of support to the South American nation of Chile following the death and destruction caused by a massive earthquake last week.

CARICOM Secretary General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque offered the support in a message of condolence sent to the country’s president Michelle Bachelet.
