CEP says it will not create new crisis in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, CMC – The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) says it will not create “a new crisis” in Haiti by rushing ahead to stage the third round of the presidential elections on April 24.

“There is no electoral environment favorable in Haiti at this time and for the third time, the second round is postponed indefinitely,” said Richardson Dumel the spokesman for the CEP.

COTED convenes Thursday: CSME, correspondent banking in focus

Matters that impact on the economic health of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) come under focus in Georgetown, Guyana, when the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) meets Thursday and Friday.

Regional Ministers who hold responsibility for Trade will hold discussions on a range of matters including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), and treatment of nationals travelling in the Region.

CARICOM Reparations Relay Launched in Barbados – Reparations Baton and Torch Will Travel Throughout the Region in 2016

The CARICOM Reparations Commission (CRC) has launched an International Reparations Relay & Rally Initiative in Barbados that in coming months will take a ‘reparations baton’ and ‘reparations torch’ from one CARICOM country to the other.

The baton and torch will be presented to the national reparations commissions across the region at youth rallies organized under the banner ‘Roots, Rock, Reggae, Reparations’ which will celebrate the principles and programmes of the Caribbean and global reparatory justice movements.

CCJ marks 11th anniversary

Port-of-Spain, CCJ – April 16, 2016, marked the eleventh year since the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) first opened its doors to the people of the Caribbean region.

The Court was inaugurated in Port-of-Spain in 2005, and has since been making strides in the advancement of the provision of judicial services to the Caribbean region.
