CARICOM OFFICIALS TO RECEIVE TRAINING TO RESPOND TO CBRNE EMERGENCY

Bridgetown, Barbados – July 9, 2013 – INTERPOL and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) will be hosting a two-day workshop from Wednesday, July 10 to Thursday, July 11, which will enable the Member States within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to develop capabilities to respond to a national or regional emergency related to the accidental or deliberate use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) materials.

Today is the 4th day of July, in the year of our Lord 2013. Forty years ago at this place, the Treaty of Chaguaramas was signed. Today, we try to re-enact what happened forty years ago.

Guyana gets US$7.3M from CDF

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Guyana and the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) on Saturday, 6 July, 2013, signed a country assistance programme agreement that will inject US$7.32M into Guyana’s agriculture sector.
