CARDI –CTA Launches the 3rd Regional Excellence in Agricultural Journalism Awards Recognition for Regional Journalists Reporting on Agriculture

Port of Spain, July 19th 2013 -  The Caribbean Research Development Institute (CARDI) and the Technical Centre for Agriculture and Rural Co-operation (CTA) have launched their third Regional Excellence in Agricultural Journalism Awards this time under the theme “Achieving Food Security through Regional Cooperation”. Journalists from across the Caribbean are invited to participate, by submitting their best entries.

CARICOM, UN discuss development issues in New York

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque is at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York, USA, articulating the Community’s position on a slate of developmental issues.

The discussions are being conducted within the framework of the two-day Seventh General Meeting of the Caribbean Community, Its Associated Institutions and the United Nations System, which began on Monday 22 July, 2013.

Introduction

Let me begin my expressing appreciation for the warm words of welcome extended to me and my delegation this morning.  Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, with the current global events, all of which demand your attention, it is heartening that our Caribbean Community’s biennial encounter is of sufficient importance to ensure your presence.

 

Find New Solutions… PANCAP Chair Tells Executive Board

CARIFESTA Organisers Expect 30 Countries to Participate

CARICOM YOUTH AMBASSADORS RETURN FROM INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FORUM SELIGER 2013 IN RUSSIA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Tamira Browne (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Patrice Harris (St. Kitts and Nevis) and Jamonn Roberts (Barbados) returned from the International Youth Forum Seliger 2013 held in Russia from the 21st – 28th July, 2013. The Forum had representation from 130 countries and mobilised 3000 participants.

PANCAP TO HOLD KEY MEETINGS

Japan signals intent to strengthen cooperation with CARICOM

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Japan look forward to the celebration of the Twentieth Anniversary of cooperation in 2014, Japan has signalled its intent to deepen cooperation relations with the Region even further.

This indication came from Ambassador Akira Yamada, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan at the opening of the Sixteenth CARICOM-Japan Consultation, Tuesday at the Georgetown, Guyana Headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat.
