Expanding the Socio-Economic Value of Cultural Heritage in the Caribbean

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – At least 14 Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries are participating in an innovative-multi-nation initiative aimed at identifying untapped cultural heritage resources and to develop new tools for monitoring and incentivising their protection.

Services Programme Advisory Committee meets

A two-day meeting of the Regional Services Programme Advisory Committee began Monday morning at the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana.

Among the matters participants will address are the strategic and action plans for cultural and entertainment services, sport, information and communication technologies services, education services, health and wellness services, professional and financial services; and the state of funding under the 10th EDF.

Caribbean Development Bank Strengthens Haiti’s Efforts to Improve Access to Sanitation Services

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – On July 16, 2015, the Caribbean Development Bank’s Board of Directors approved USD211,000 in financing to help strengthen Haiti’s technical capacity to improve its population’s access to sanitation services. The funding, provided through the Bank’s Special Fund Resources, will contribute to the Governance and Sanitation Training Programme, which is to be run from September to December 2015.

Address criteria for concessional financing and debt – CARICOM SG

Region’s premier tourism conference to focus on growth through innovation

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – A theme has been announced for the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO)’s State of the Industry Conference (SOTIC) in Curaçao from 21-23 October. This year’s theme, Caribbean Tourism: Growth Through Innovation, reflects the need for Caribbean tourism to continuously introduce new ideas, methods and products in order to remain competitive, said the CTO Secretary General, Hugh Riley.

CDEMA participates in Rotary Clubs of Barbados, UNDP Model UN Programme

UNESCO conference explores reparations

Basseterre, St. Kitts – (SKNIS): A two-day conference hosted by the St. Kitts and Nevis UNESCO National Commission and forming part of the commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the UNESCO International Scientific Slave Route Project, has reopened the dialogue on the negro legacy, including the matter of reparations for the descendants of the enslaved.
