I welcome you all to this Forty-First Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED).
A special session on Thursday with the Region’s private sector will headline the final Ministerial Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) for this year as efforts continue to position the business sector to drive growth and development.
The private sector is considered a critical partner in the Region’s quest for economic resilience, which is a key element of the Community’s Five-Year Strategic Plan.
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has expressed shock and sadness at the sudden death of the Head the University of Guyana’s Law Department and former Head of the Coordinating Unit for the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) Jamaican Sheldon McDonald.
Mr. McDonald, 64, died on Wednesday from injuries received in a car crash in Guyana.
CARICOM Energy Week 2015 was kicked off on Saturday 7 November with a series of Energy walks in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada and Guyana.

The Week, from November 7-14, will be observed under the theme ‘Empowering our Sustainable Development’.
The CARICOM Secretariat, in collaboration with the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) will convene a Technical Working Group (TWG) on crime prevention next week.
