Brazil, Mexico ask US to explain if NSA spied on presidents

BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazil assailed the United States yesterday after new allegations that Washington spied on President Dilma Rousseff, complaining that its sovereignty may have been violated and suggesting that it could call off Rousseff’s planned state visit to the White House next month.
A Brazilian news programme reported on Sunday that the US National Security Agency spied on emails, phone calls and text messages of Rousseff and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, a disclosure that could strain Washington’s relations with Latin America’s two biggest nations.

No jobs for grads - Experts predict almost 20,000 youths leaving school won’t find employment

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Gleaner - Nearly half of the more than 40,000 young people who graduate high schools and universities this year may not find employment in the private sector, two stakeholder groups have predicted.
The forecast by the Jamaica Employers' Federation (JEF) and the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) comes as the economy continues its decline for a sixth consecutive quarter.
"Most employers are either not hiring or not replacing people who are leaving," JEF President David Wan puts it simply.

TRINIDAD-PROTEST-Police fire teargas, engage in gun battle with protestors

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Police Monday fired teargas and engaged in a gun battle with residents of Beetham Gardens, on the outskirts of the capital, protesting the killing of a 23 year-old man by police on Sunday night.
“We were making our way through one of the alleys in the Beetham, when we heard rapid gunfire, and saw resident running in our direction. The police warned us not to go forward because they were in a battle with the resident. We took heed,” Trinidad Express journalist Rickie Ramdass reported.

ST. VINCENT-POLITICS-St. Vincent PM against military action in Syria

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – The St. Vincent and the Grenadines government Monday said it was “alarmed” at the recent allegations of the use of chemical weapons in Syria and remains “deeply concerned with the spiralling humanitarian crisis in the Middle East.
But the government said it considers any external military action to be “premature”.
The United States has said it had irrefutable evidence that the chemical weapons were used by the Bashar al-Assad administration resulting in the deaths of nearly, 1500 people including more than 400 children last month.
