Region’s Climate Change concerns captured in song

The Climate Conference COP21 opened in Paris yesterday and, to accompany and support the efforts of Caribbean delegates in the difficult negotiations of the next two weeks, Caribbean artists have released a theme song that calls on the world to recognise and respect the legitimate claims of small islands in the face of climate change.

 

Caribbean countries report end to mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis

- 17 countries in Americas may have eliminated mother-to-child HIV transmission - U.N.

BOGOTA, Nov 30 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Data from 17 countries and territories across the Americas, including the United States, Canada and Chile, show they may have eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis, the U.N. World Health Organization said on Monday.

Commonwealth Leaders issue statement on Climate Action

In the current global effort to address climate change under the Convention, Commonwealth member states have submitted, as of 28 November 2015, 50 Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs), whose mitigation components cover 17% of global emissions of greenhouse gases.

CARICOM congratulates new Commonwealth SG

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations to Dominica-born Baroness Patricia Scotland on her election as Commonwealth Secretary-General.

Baroness Scotland’s election came on the opening day of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta, Friday.
