During the past year, St. Kitts and Nevis, has had the honour and the privilege, to chair the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR). In fact, we in St. Kitts and Nevis, have been very fortunate, to be the Chair, of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) and since January 1, to have taken over the Chairmanship of the Principal organ of the Community - the Heads of Government.

COFCOR THIRD MEETING IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

The Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), which determines relations pursued by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is expected to look into the development of a global strategy in Foreign Policy Coordination, as the Region seeks to strengthen its position in international fora.

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED ON CONCLUSION OF MEETING BETWEEN THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY (CARICOM) AND THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY (SADC), 17-18 APRIL, 2000 KINGSTON, JAMAICA

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) took a step towards close r cooperation when high level officials from the two regional groupings met in Kingston, Jamaica on 17-18 April, 2000. The Delegations of both CARICOM and SADC included representatives from their respective Member States.

PRESS STATEMENT CARIFESTA VII IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS

Due to the need to garner all resources for the staging of CARIFESTA VII in August of this year, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has taken the decision to postpone the year 2000 Music Festival.

Sincere gratitude is expressed to all individuals, groups, firms and organisations who whole heartedly supported past Music Festivals and it is hoped that the interest and spirit of co-operation will be forthcoming for the year 2001.

The Second General Meeting between the UN Secretariat and its Specialised Agencies and the Caribbean Community Secretariat and Associate Institutions concluded in Nassau, The Bahamas on 28 March, 2000. The CARICOM delegation was led by Dr Carla Barnett, Deputy Secretary-General. The UN system delegation was led by Mr Patrizio Civili, Assistant Secretary-General, Economic and Social Affairs.
