Leaders urged to put tourism on front burner

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Dr Rufus Ewing, Premier of the Turks and Caicos, has echoed a call by T&T’s Tourism Minister Stephen Cadiz for regional leaders to put tourism high on the agenda. The power of the Caribbean Sea

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Has the time come to give greater consideration to the opportunity presented by what might be described as the space in between: the millions of square miles of ocean and sea bed that lie between the islands and countries of the Caribbean? Largely unmapped, scarcely considered and vastly greater in promise than what, for the most part is possible onshore, it offers a new frontier.

Work it out!

Dancing on graves

GEORGETOWN, Guyana - Margaret Thatcher and Hugo Chávez came from opposing ends of the political spectrum but, in a curious way, they shared a common trait: both were capable of arousing, in death as in life, great admiration and devotion, on the one hand, and deep loathing on the other. In the latter respect, reactions to their death in their respective countries make for an interesting comparison. Mrs Thatcher’s funeral on Wednesday was a grand affair, just the type of thing at which the British excel.
