CARICOM SG congratulates new Jamaica PM

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque has extended heartiest congratulations to newly elected Prime Minister of Jamaica, Mr. Andrew Holness.

“I look forward to working with you in continuing to strengthen our integration movement in the interest of the people of Jamaica and of the wider Caribbean Community, the Secretary-General said in his congratulatory letter.

Competition Sensitization for Judges Gets Underway

The CARICOM Secretariat pushes toward consolidating the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) with sensitization sessions for judges in competition law and policy. This Tuesday, March 8, the first of these workshops kicks off in Jamaica at The Court of Appeal. Seven judges of the court will be participating in the activity which is funded under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF). This is part of a larger project to assist Member States with improving their regulatory, administrative and institutional arrangements related to the single market.

CARICOM seeks Portugal’s advocacy on major concerns

As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) continues to lobby for the removal of Member States from the list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions, Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque on Friday raised the issue with newly accredited Ambassador of Portugal to CARICOM His Excellency Fernando Teles Fazendeiro.

It is my pleasure to warmly welcome you to the Twenty-Ninth Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) on Youth and Culture.  I welcome, especially, those of you who are visiting our Community Headquarters for the first time.

 

To the Hon. Evans Rogers, Minister of Health and Social Development with responsibility for Youth and Culture of Anguilla, I extend special greetings to you, as you attend your first COHSOD Meeting.  I have no doubt that the discussion will benefit from your ideas and views.

 

Craft a culture that makes youth assets – Minister Ramjattan tells Regional Youth Forum

Guyana’s Minister for Public Security, Hon. Khemraj Ramjattan, called for the crafting of   a culture that makes youth assets rather than liabilities. The Minister made this call at the Official Opening of  the two-day Regional Forum on Youth Crime and Violence which opened today, 29 February 2016, in Georgetown, Guyana, under the theme: Youth Crime and Violence; Breaking the Cycle Exploring New Platforms for transformation.
