Our Mission

The Mission works tirelessly to advance the interests of the Caribbean Community at the United Nations, 
promoting the sustainable development of the region, multilateral cooperation, and other interests of CARICOM Member states.
The Mission serves as the collective voice of 14 Caribbean countries, advocating for the region and 
fostering partnerships with the international community for the Caribbean Community.

Sustainable Development

Advancing the priorities of small states, including SDG implementation, development finance, food security and regional resilience.

Climate Resilience

Promoting ambitious climate action, loss and damage financing, adaptation support, and recognition of SIDS vulnerabilities.

Peace, Security & Haiti

Supporting regional security priorities, conflict prevention, rule of law, and international action in support of Haiti.

Human Rights

Supporting equality, dignity, human rights, the Second International Decade for People of African Descent

Financing for Development

Advocating fair access to concessional finance, debt sustainability, vulnerability measures and reform of the global financial architecture.

Multilateral Reform

Promoting inclusive, effective and representative multilateral institutions that respond to the needs of small and vulnerable states.

Reparatory Justice

Caribbean leaders are turning the tide of history by pressuring former colonial powers to answer for the structural trauma of enslavement and colonialism.

The CARICOM Permanent Observer to the United Nations

Dr. Wade brings nearly four decades of UN experience, most recently as a Director in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). Her career also includes roles as Senior Liaison Officer for the World Health Organization in New York and Senior Economic Affairs Officer where she supported the UN Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). Her UN postings included stints in Latin America and the Caribbean, where she specialized in economic/regional integration and in Africa and Asia, where she participated in peacekeeping missions in Namibia and Cambodia

CARICOM Caucus of Permanent Representatives
to the United Nations

The CARICOM Caucus is composed of Representatives from the 14 independent member states of the Caribbean Community at the United Nations. The Caucus is chaired by a permanent representative from one member state and rotates bi-monthly. The Group holds regular meetings to coordinate joint positions on matters of common interest related to the UN agenda.
