Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma on Friday presented Prime Minister Freundel Stuart with a commemorative cricket bat of the historic 1950 West Indies tour of England.

The presentation of the bat, which bears the signatures of the players, was made in the presence of other CARICOM leaders, as they met with the Commonwealth Secretary General at a special breakfast meeting before the start of Friday’s plenary session, as the 36th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) entered its first day at the Hilton Barbados.

The Commonwealth Secretary General told the Prime Minister that the bat was very significant, since it represented the West Indies spectacular tour of England, where they marked their dominance and all-round superiority as they trounced England to win the series 3-1.

The Commonwealth Secretary-General, who leaves office later this year,  is a special guest at the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting which ends today, Saturday 4 July 2015 (BGIS)
