Regional Nursing Body (RNB)

Provide advisory services to the Conference of Ministers responsible for Health of the Caribbean Community in matters relating to the improvement of nursing and its contribution to health care in the region; (b) provide advisory services to Member States on request and as mandated by the Conference of Ministers responsible for Health; (c) identify the need for basic, post-basic and continuing nursing education programmes in keeping with current trends in nursing and health care in the Region; (d) promote the development, implementation and evaluation of quality assurance programme in nursing and health care; (e) engage in efforts to secure the updating of nursing legislation, from time to time, in order to keep abreast of developments in nursing and health care; (f) promote the utilization of epidemiological approach in the identification of health problems of national and regional significance and make recommendations on policies and programmes for the solution of health problems so identified; (g) collaborate with other regional bodies in identifying health problems in the Region and in the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes and projects which represent priority areas in the regional health policy; (h) stimulate research in nursing for the improvement of the profession and health care in the Region; (i) promote the implementation of primary health care strategies; (j) promote Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC) in matters relating to nursing; (k) foster activities aimed at strengthening and maintaining standards of nursing education in the Region; (l) enhance the provision of quality patient care through the strengthening of nursing services; (m) promote manpower planning in nursing to meet the needs of Member States; (n) disseminate information on nursing and health care to Member States.
